One killed, 29 injured in mishaps

A motorcyclist was killed and many others - including an unidentified girl - injured in different accidents in the valley.

Srinagar, May 9:  One person was killed and 29 others injured in separate road accidents in Kashmir valley on Friday, police said.

A motorcyclist, Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur district of Punjab, was killed and his pillion rider Sahib Massi was injured when he lost control and hit a tree near Abi Trag Chandhar on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.

In another mishap, 22 people were injured, four of them seriously, when a passenger bus turned turtle at Babhar in Pulwama district on Friday morning.

The injured were hospitalised.

Meanwhile, a sports utility vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian, identified as Younus Ahmad Mangroo, at Bijbehara in Anantnag district, the spokesman said.

An unidentified girl was injured when she was hit by an ambulance at Kadalbal-Pampore in Pulwama district.

A tractor turned turtle at Manghama Keeri in Baramulla district resulting in injuries to two riders, Mohd Ashraf and Ghulam Mophammad Mir, who were hospitalised, the spokesman said.

He said a three-wheeler hit and injured two persons, Abdul Hamid Khanday and Shohana Shamim, at Shah Mohalla in Shopian district.
