Srinagar, May 9:  Kashmiri Pandit Sangrash Samiti (KPSS), an organisation of non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits, on Friday demanded setting up of an international commission to establish truth of all killings and disappearances that had taken place in the state since eruption of militancy.

"The international commission is necessary to end the allegations and the counter allegations made by various agencies regarding the number of killings in the state", KPSS President Sanjay K Tikoo said in a statement.

No representatives either from India, Pakistan or from the state should be included in the commission to carry out impartial probe, he said and appealed all erstwhile militant outfits, separatists, Human Rights groups and government to come forward so that all killings and disappearances are established in a proper way.

"We have failed to satisfy the conflict lurking in our minds. Why don't people in general and different agencies in particular, including militants give truthful accounts of various killings that have taken place since the eruption of militancy in the state?" the KPSS leader asked.

He said it was wrong to hold one agency responsible for all killings.

Jammu and Kashmir police, in its latest report, has put the number of Kashmiri Pandits killed in the state at 209.

The separatist organisations authenticate the government version on killing of Kashmiri Pandits during the last 17 years, but they never accept its version that 33,000 persons lost their lives in the Valley during the same period, he said

They claim over one lakh persons were killed in the state during the past 17 years, he added.
