Jammu CRPF said on Sunday that an internal enquiry has revealed that its personnel were not involved in the killing of a teenager in Srinagar. “CRPF was not involved in the killing. We made an enquiry at our own level and found that there was no involvement of anyone from the CRPF”, Special Director General (CRPF) N K Tripati said here.

Zahid Farooq Shah (16) was shot dead on Friday allegedly by security forces at Brain-Nishat, 12 kms from here. The killing sparked instant protests with angry locals alleging the teenager was killed by securitymen travelling in a vehicle without any provocation.

Tripati said “it was some unknown vehicle involved in the killing.” The state police would probe into the case and CRPF has nothing to do with it, he said. When asked about allegations of high-handedness of the security forces, he said “CRPF personnel have exercised great restraint and controlled the situation in extremely professional manner.”

“There are no complaints of human rights violations against CRPF till now”, he claimed and added "1500 CRPF personnel have been injured in stone pelting during one and half years in Kashmir valley.”
