Army discovers huge arms cache in Poonch

Army troops and Jammu and Kashmir Police busted a terrorist hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions besides explosives in Poonch district.

Jammu Army troops and Jammu and Kashmir Police busted a terrorist hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions besides explosives in Poonch district on Monday night.

The cache recovery was made in Bafliaz area of Poonch district, official sources said adding that the recovery was effected following a sustained search operation, taken up jointly by army troops and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The recovered cache included 45 UBGL grenades, 10 RPG grenades, 23 Chinese grenades, 12 RPG chargers, several rounds of Pika ammunition and 45 detonators.

Brigadier General Staff, 16 Corps, Brig Gurdeep Singh said that the huge recovery was effected from a hideout, deep inside a forest area in Dera Ki Gali (DKG) in Bafliaz area.

The hideout was far from Line of Control, and the cache was old dump by some terrorists for use in subversive activities in future, Brig Singh stated, adding that, however, the joint operation of the army troops and police foiled such attempts by timely recovering the huge dump of explosives and other material.
