Security forces rescue two from LeT militants

Security forces on Tuesday rescued two young men from the Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior police officer said.

Jammu, July 31: Security forces on Tuesday rescued two young men from the Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior police officer said.

On the basis of reports that two young men were missing from Bhabore and Raie villages of Doda district for last fortnight, a team of police and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) troops launched rescue operation, Senior Superintendent of Police

(SSP) Doda, Manohar Singh said.

The duo, identified as 20-year-old Jamsheed Ahmed and 22-year-old Shoib Mohammad, had been rescued from Bagla Bharat area, he said. Their captors managed to flee, he added.

Both of them have been handed over to their parents, he said.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that they were taken by the ultras almost a fortnight ago from their villages and were being forced to join militancy, Singh added.
